So, looking back at the chapter I find that I have better ways to show the reader, why people are in situations. Instead of telling peole with force feed exposition I can show them throught the characters eyes. This is good and bad, to me the chapter did not fit but felt needed, but I hate work.
My first story is about one of the many main characters of this universe. One thing that I do want to mention is that there are a lot of important characters in this universe. I want to give the feel of vastness when I write about them. One example is Star Wars.
While I know there are more important characters than the ones we know from the movies. It seems that most of the books and other stories written in that series is only about a few of them. Yes I know you can show me the ones that aren’t, But my point is that it seems like the most are only on the main few.
Since Star Wars spans a large Galaxy and we only hear about a few people, what goes on around the rest of the galaxy? How many other cool bounty hunters are out there? Who trained Jango Fett? Is that guy even more badass? There are so many questions I have about different aspects of those people lives, and who and what influenced them.
In my current short story, I am writing a bit that will help explain what causes this character to be in the current position he is in. Now that means exposition, but I think to fully understand the character you need to know why he is there. Now I do think I will give only a summary of what happened, because it is a very interesting event.
I also have some stories about that main event and other conflicts of interest it brings up. While the universe is immeasurable it seems that the actions of one species can influence a lot. Ok time to write more.
I have been writing, and think about this story like crazy. I have been writing quit a bit when I can. I have rewritten chapters that I think needed more detail, and changed around a few things.
One thing that I find when writing is that, I often go back and read the last page or so when I’m about to start writing again. While I need to do this so I can remember what I have written I find this also hampers me. Because, I have never been a great conversationalist or writer, when I read these I think that I’m doing a bad job. While I’m probably being too hard on myself sometime I have to get over that hump to continue.
I have finished a few chapters, and what I’m going to do is read them on the mic, and then play it back. I want to see if I can get the same images when I hear it, like when I read it. If I can, I have the story telling part down, and Ill just have to rely on others for the grammatical side of things.
In my podcast that I did for this show my main idea to send the countries into a resource war, was a fuel shortage. Now this does prove to be some issue in the long run. Also, I think as a plot point it was really flimsy all though, it would work. I think there were some plot holes in that idea that I did not like.
In looking at some of the ideas for other areas in the RES universe some other things needed to be created. In trying to envision the inception of these ideas, my new crisis that caused the world to go to war, has really taken form.
I am really excited about this idea, because it has a basis in reality and I think it also is a lot more plausible than the first. The other thing that I love about this is that it plays into a lot of personality traits of people. One thing that I have been looking at in this whole story arc is that how morally gray humanity is.
When we need to do something to help someone else, we often look at what’s in it for me. In other times when we faced with possible death, we will pull out the stops and do what is needed with out a second thought. With this new event, it also helped me create characters that are true to themselves but not really good people. They know what they want and they do everything they can to get it.
One thing recently that I have been seeing in a lot of media is the character that you think is really freaking cool, but he’s a bad guy. It’s because he has so much more depth and overall character than a shallow hero. In looking at my characters I see a lot of depth in them and interconnection between characters that builds even more. The thing I need to make sure I do right is to portray that depth the reader.
I hope I can.
So, I have been writing now for a while. I have been having a lot of fun actually writing out my ideas. I usually stop writing because of my writing skill. The only thing that keeps me going is because I think I have a really good story and I think someone would like it.
That and I can make my friends suffer by reading my work.
So I have the epilogue and the first three chapters written. Well I have the main idea for them. I actually am going back, because I want to add more detail and depth at certain points. I have also changed the world changing event and im really happy about it.
The thing I love most about this, is its so modular. I create elements and then put them together and see what happens. So no one thing is so pivotal that the whole story will break if its not done right or not done at all.
What have I been doing for awhile. Ive been doing alot. Here is a little recap of the time while I was off. I was looking into putting out a better product. This is also the recording that we salvaged from the faild studio recording.
The computer just locked up due to heat issues. The weird thing is that we were able to save part of the recording. This was actually going to be a long episode and we were going to break it up into smaller ones and then release them. However that did not happen because of the computer.
So we just decieded that since this was mostly banter and a little insight that we would just release this as an update episode. Again it does cut off at the end but it shouldnt be too bad.

So, With the installation of the new Heater/AC unit, our basement puts out so much noise. It drove me nuts. Then my computer started to make an a noise that the mics could pic up too. Since I was going to some cons I figured I would have an idea on resolving this issue.
We were at Jim’s fathers house. He has a really cool pro sound setup. We started to to record and about 20 minutes into the recording we saw what looked like the screen saver come on. We were on a roll, since we were not next to the computer at that time, we figured it was just the screensaver. It turned out that the whole computer locked up. The crappy thing is that we kept talking for another 30 minutes.
Next weekend we should have the computer issue resolved. I hope to have a big recording setup with our new episode formate and some new topics that you should enjoy. We will also have intro and exit music for our episodes. I feel like this is RES 2.0
